Wetlands observation boardwalk -- no cement, no chemicals, no purchased lumber. This is constructed of salvaged oak bridge timbers and Kentucky Coffee Tree rough milled lumber (resists water naturally, like locust). Total cost, including labor, under $1000.

Subtraction -- you can add, why not subtract? You can see the "ghost" of the former rooms which will now be an open court. Straw bale forms a new foyer. The azalea came from Eastcliff.

This project, at under $50,000, expands the family's kitchen over a previous screened porch. The concrete pad is retained and will be polished and stained for the new floor. The addition will have a straw bale wall and a green roof. Architect Julie Gabrielli achieved a dramatic upsweep to reveal a view over the steep rear bank. Plants from the site were salvaged.
